"Lake Havasu City"
Lake Havasu City is home to the world-famous London Bridge. Yes, the London Bridge, which was dismantled and sent from London. The bridge now crosses over Lake Havasu, a lake created by the construction of Parker Dam. Prior to the dam system, what is now Lake Havasu was a section of the Colorado River. Lake Havasu City is a water wonderland in the middle of the desert. Year-round recreation can be found in this charming little town.

The London Bridge is the focal point of Lake Havasu City. Robert McCulloch submitted a bid for the bridge to the City of London for more than $2 million in 1968. London put the bridge up for sale when it became apparent a new bridge must be constructed that could handle the ever-increasing traffic. Transporting the bridge to its final destination took more $7 million and three years time. The London Bridge was dedicated in 1971. As a reminder of the London Bridge's origins, the city of London received one-acre of land at one end of the bridge to serve as a permanent bond between the two cities. |

The Bill Williams River as it flows through the grasslands in the wildlife refuge. This area can be seen from an overlook off of AZ 95 between Parker and Lake Havasu City. The area was designated as a National Wildlife Refuge because of the many species of birds residing in the location. |
